Chapter 12

Kia

“Kia,” my roommate Cheekie poked her head into my bedroom.

Waking up from a deep sleep, my eyes fluttered open. “Huh?”

“Somebody is at the door for you,” she announced.

Confused, I glanced to my left and saw that Money was still lying next to me, knocked out, lightly snoring.

I glanced back at Cheekie. “Is it my parents or sister?”

“No.” her eyes bucked. “If it was any of your family, I would’ve just let them in.”

Scratching my head, I sat up in bed. “Who is it?” I whispered.

“That nigga you be kicking it with. I think his name is Tee.”

Grabbing my phone, I grumbled. “What the fuck?”

Checking the time, I peeped that it was four o’clock in the evening. I’d missed class and everything. My cell had been going crazy, from calls from my parents to Tee. Tee had been texting me since nine that morning. He mentioned that he wasn’t letting me get out of spending time with him today. And now his ass had popped up at my apartment.

I lifted my head. “Cheekie, what did you tell him?”

“He knocked on the door, and asked for you. I left him at the door, and came back here to get you. I’ve been gone all night. I didn’t know that you still had company, until I opened this door.”

“Okay,” I sighed, while nervously rubbing the side of my face. “Go tell him that I aint here.”

She narrowed her eyes. “And you think that he’s gonna buy that?”

“Hell, nah,” Money spat, as he rolled over, before sitting up. The covers were resting right over his waist region. “Aint no nigga finna believe that shit. Go tell that nigga what’s up, Kia. I already told you last night what time it is.”

I stared at him.

He bucked his eyes. “The fuck you looking at me for?”

“If I go to that door, are you gonna stay back here, while I handle that?”

“Hell, nah. Who the fuck you think you is? You aint Xscape and I aint your ‘lil secret.”

Cheekie stood there, laughing her ass off. “Kia, I like him. He’s funny.”

I face-palmed myself. “Oh, my God.”

“Man, get your ass up,” Money urged, popping my thigh. “Throw on some clothes and go holler at that nigga.”

Knowing the history between Money and Tee, a damn shootout was very likely to happen. I could just see it.

“No,” I refused sternly, finding my voice. “Cheekie, please tell him that now is not a good time.”

“Okay,” she giggled, before leaving my doorway.

“You got me fucked up.” Money hopped up, and snatched his boxers off the floor. “I’m finna go see that nigga myself.” He angrily stepped into his drawls.

“Money.” I closed my eyes tightly. “I’m begging you not to do that.”

“Why not?!” he exploded.

“Because that’s my neighbor out there!” I shouted. “And I know this won’t end well. We already know that you’re ignorant as fuck, and that boy aint no hoe. You already robbed that man. The fuck do you think will happen if y’all come face to face, right now? You think that he’s just gonna turn and walk away?”

Kneeling over, Money grabbed his gun.
